SPONSORS for new BRC candidates: know who you are sponsoring.Will the person you signed your name for be an asset to the club…???..Will the candidate actively participate in club responsibilities.????

When we limited membership to 300 we had far less work.Back then you could drive out to most rural areas and shoot… Not so anymore…Now with 750 members the club is much more complicated.Requiring more planning and work.

BRC is the “FINEST” multi-shooting facility in the mid-west.Be proud of it, participate and introduce a new member who will also.

As in most clubs 5% of the members do 90% of what it takes to have a place to shoot. After a few years these working members “BURN-OUT”… We need younger members to step up and keep the club going.

Will the Beloit Rifle Club always be there….????.. Alot of other ranges have gone by the wayside.Residential encroachment,Bullets gone astray,noise pollution,liability lawsuits,board member burn-out are a few reasons why.

2010 NRA Day Program Youth Sports Fest a Major Success

Our 2010 NRA Youth Sports Fest was held on July 10th and was a major success!! We had 124 youth participate in the event this year. We also had approximately 70 club members volunteer to make this event go smoothly. It looked like everyone had a great time. The club wants to thank everyone who helped make this years event such a success. We especially want to thank our sponsors who donated to the event. This years sponsors included Frito Lay, The Old Fashion Bakery, Handgun Dynamics and Digital Security and Alarm.

Hunter Education Classes

The next round of Hunter Education Classes are scheduled to start on August 23, 2010. Classes are held at the Beloit Masonic Lodge on Monday and Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Classes run for 5 consecutive weeks. Contact Jeff Stevens at 608-289-1968 for more information.

Rimfire Sporter Matches

CMP will add Rimfire Sporter matches to its program this year. The match features .22 rimfire rifles that weigh no more than 7 ½ pounds, no shooting jackets, no fancy stuff. Visit CMP’s website @ http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/Rimfire.pdf for the rules.

Rimfire Sporter match dates are: May 23, June 27, July 18, August 29, and October 17.

Garand Springfield Military Matches for 2010

CMP matches at Beloit Rifle Club are considered mixed and you may bring “other” (your AR-15) rifles if you like. CMP fees are $10.00 for members, $15.00 for non-members and $5.00 for juniors (under 18). Juniors will need a liability release signed by a parent or guardian, which will be good for the year. Greek 30.06 ammo is available at a cost of $20 for 60 rounds. No hand loads are allowed to be used in the Club’s Garands.

Achievement pins will be awarded to shooters who equal or exceed the award scores listed in the CMP Competition Rules. Scores are calculated so that the top one sixth of the top 40 percent receives gold, the next two-sixths receive silver and the remaining three-sixths receive bronze. The Beloit Rifle Club now has pins for Garand, Springfield, Vintage Bolt Gun, Carbine and Rimfire Sporter. The aforementioned pins are the club level awards of the CMP Games held at Camp Perry annually. The cut scores are based on the previous year’s results. Last year the weather was bad at Perry so hopefully scores might come down. Nonconforming rifles will not be eligible for awards.

The CMP Garand – Springfield – Military (GSM) schedule for 2010 is as follows: May2 (clinic), June 6, August 15, September 12 and October 3. The Rimfire – Sporter dates are: May 23, June 27, July 18, August 29, September 26 and October 17. Sign in begins at 7:00 AM and firing begins at 8:00 AM.
