Additional NRA Youth Sports Fest Planning Meetings

Additional planning meetings have been scheduled for the 2012 NRA Youth Sports Fest. These meetings are scheduled for 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm on April 16, April 30 and May 7 in the clubhouse. Please come and help in this worthwhile event. We need as much help as possible to make this event come off with flying colors.

Beloit Rifle Club Concealed / Open Carry Policy

Since Concealed / Open Carry is now law in Wisconsin, the Beloit Rifle Club has adopted the attached Concealed / Open Carry Policy. Please read this policy before carrying on the club premises.

2012 NRA Youth Sports Fest Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to help with the 2012 NRA Day Program Youth Sports Fest.

Friday May 11 Event Setup Volunteers – From 9:30 am to mid afternoon, as many as possible

Saturday Volunteers:

Rifle Range Coaches – Need 9-10 persons, help with cleanup

Food Preparation and Service – Need 2 persons all day, help with cleanup

Parking – Need 6 persons 7:30 am to 9:30 am, will help with food service and cleanup

Registration / Administration – Need 6 persons, will help with food service, general help and cleanup

Guides – Need 8 persons all day, help with cleanup

Cleanup – All available persons 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm?

NRA Youth Day Organizational Meeting

We are having an organizational meeting for the 2012 NRA Youth Day which is scheduled for May 12, 2012. The meeting will be in the clubhouse on April 2nd at 6:00 pm. If you are interested in helping out on this years event, please come out to this meeting and find out what you can do to help. This is a very rewarding event and we can always use the help..

CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) Update for 2012

If you are interested in learning more about participating in high power competitions, the Civilian Marksmanship Program has a Garand, Springfield, Military (GSM) clinic on Sunday, April 29th.

The clinic covers rifle safety, course of fire and range commands, shooting positions, shot technique, and a little about CMP’s competitions and sales programs. There will be a match after the classroom portion. Contact John Stewart at jstewart@advengsys.com (608-289-2770) to register for the class.

The remaining dates for CMP GSM matches are May 27, June 24, July 22, August 26, September 16, and October 14. Additionally we have the CMP Rimfire Sporter matches scheduled for October 28, November 11, and December 9. The Rimfire Sporter matches are held at the indoor range. Registration for both the CMP GSM and Rimfire Sporter matches starts at 7am with the first relay beginning at 8am. Fees are $10 for members, $15 for non-members and $5 for juniors. Ammunition (30.06) is available for purchase–$30 for 60 rounds. Also the club owns a quantity of M1 Garands which are available for use during a scheduled match free of charge. Use of a club Garand requires the purchase of club supplied ammo.

Service Rifle / Match Rifle / Any Rifle / F Class

Course of Fire:
1) Standing / Slow Fire (10 rounds in 10 minutes)
2) Sitting / Rapid Fire (10 rounds in 60 seconds)
3) Prone / Rapid Fire (10 rounds in 70 seconds)
4) Prone / Slow Fire (20 rounds in 20 minutes)

Fees:
$ 10.00 per Match for Record
$5.00 for Juniors or members of the National Guard or Reserve

Center Fire Bench Rest League

There will be a Center Fire Bench Rest League this year. The sign up sheet is on the bulletin board close to the entrance door to the club house.
The course of fire will consist of 20 shots for record fired on a Sinclair Bench Rest Practice Target, within 20 minutes, at 100 yards. An unlimited number of sighter shots is allowed.
The top row of 5 bullseye targets will be for sighters. The number 2 and 4 bulls in the second row will be for two 5 shot groups to be measured center to center.
The bottom two rows of 5 bullseyes will be for score, 1 shot per target. If the circular line is completely broken the lower number will be counted.
There will be no weight limits or scope limit. There is no restriction on caliber except the existing club rules of center fire below 50 caliber.
The 100 yard General Range will be used. The matches will be held on Saturdays beginning at the conclusion of the .22 RF Bench Rest League, approximately 10:00 AM.

The dates for the matches are:
May 19 and 26
June 16 and 30
July 7 and 21
Aug. 18 and 25
Sept. 15 and 29
Oct. 13 make up day -if needed

Constructive suggestions are welcome. How good is your hunting/varmint /target rifle? There will be a $4.00 target fee for the complete session. No awards or medals to be awarded, just bragging rights to be earned.

Volunteers needed for Main Range Roofing Project

Wanted: Anyone interested in helping re roof the main range on approximately April 14 and 15 contact (Everett Bennett at 815-389-3302). we will need strong backs as well as workers with experience in tearing off shingles and installing metal roofing. Weather permitting we will start this project at this time. Tools for this kind of work will be needed. we will have an organizational meeting before this date at the range. thanks Everett Bennett
